UnderPressure
UnderPressure stands out thanks to its clearly defined three-role system, in which the Navigator, Mechanic and Scientist must each perform role-specific tasks to get a submarine back on the move and locate crew members lost in the Bermuda Triangle.
The combination of navigation, systems management and analysis creates an intense collaborative experience that is strongly reminiscent of a cooperative escape room: Players coordinate their efforts, puzzle out solutions together and gradually regain control of the submarine. Particularly well-executed is how communication itself becomes part of the gameplay mechanics, for example when working through a complex reboot sequence together. The setting in the Bermuda Triangle, with increasing depth, environmental hazards and steadily escalating system pressure, ensures mounting tension. The stylised, atmospheric 3D look with a slight steampunk touch and the already well-functioning, accessible controls round off the prototype. Overall, this creates a very cohesive co-op experience that thrives on genuine collaboration.
