Red Dead Redemption 2
The real star of the game is the world itself. The landscapes, which look natural yet are skilfully crafted, constantly catch our eye and ensure we don’t just rush from one quest marker to the next. You feel like taking a souvenir photo every few metres. And if you shift your gaze from the vast panoramas to the finer details, you won’t be disappointed there either – in fact, you’ll be amazed. Just a few examples: over 200 animal species can be observed and hunted; whilst riding through ‘The Grizzlies’, the horse tracks stand out in the deep snow with almost frightening realism; insects buzz over lush green meadows in the temperate regions; and some form of interaction is possible with every one of the authentic-looking NPCs. Red Dead Redemption 2 is far more than just a game; it is, in fact, a Western simulation that makes very few compromises in terms of plot, characters or setting, and can currently be considered unparalleled. Red Dead Redemption 2 is, in effect, ‘Game World: The Game’.
