Polaris Convention Mobile Game

The Polaris Convention Mobile Game offers everything one would expect from a new kind of event companion app. However, with its gamification approach, it goes far beyond that. Scannable QR codes around the venue encourage users to explore the event halls much more attentively in order to unlock interactions, rewards and points for the team they selected at the start. The app has been developed to a high visual standard, which kept users actively engaged even during initial capacity issues.

The app made its debut at the Polaris Convention, which took place from 28 to 30 October 2022 in Hamburg. Polaris attracted 10,000 visitors, was streamed to 1 million people, and featured five playable themed worlds spread across 20,000 m² with 150 exhibitors and partners. A unique feature of Polaris was that the entire exhibition was laid out like the level design in a game (walkways, vistas, shortcuts, etc.). In each of the five worlds, there was a huge projection (4x10m) on large tower screens showing players their team’s progress.

The app breaks new ground in the field of live event support, and the integration of on-site projections and the treasure hunt element in particular enriched the convention for both visitors and exhibitors alike.
