Matthias „Knochen“ Remmert

Matthias Knochen Remmert brought his active career as an esports commentator and presenter to a close in December 2021. Prior to this, he founded 99Damage, now the largest German-speaking Counter-Strike: Global Offensive community; spent two decades commentating on the most prestigious national and international CS:GO tournaments; mentored numerous talented individuals both in front of and behind the camera; helped bring esports to a mainstream audience as the face of ran eSports across various ProSieben channels; and is now a volunteer on the executive committee of the E-Sport-Bund Deutschland (ESBD).

As a professional commentator and host, he was nominated for the 2021 German Sports Journalists’ Award in the ‘Best Esports Coverage’ category; within the community, he is also highly regarded for his honest, warm and winning personality, which makes viewers happy to laugh along with him and, as fans, celebrate their own team’s successes. Over the course of 20 years as a player, commentator, mentor and initiator, he has shaped the German Counter-Strike esports scene like no other, and his commitment and passion have had an impact far beyond the Counter-Strike community – which is why he has been nominated for the ‘Player of the Year’ award in recognition of his life’s work.
