Homeworld Mobile is an ambitious real-time strategy game that stands out for its immersive atmosphere and complex gameplay mechanics. Players navigate their fleet through space, manufacture new escort cruisers and drones on their own mothership, establish economic and research systems, and, whilst doing so, battle pirates and all manner of other threats. Thanks to intelligent controls, the combination of these gameplay elements works well, even if you often have to click through quite a few menu levels. Optimising your fleet and crew is fun in the long run, and you’ll quickly grow fond of the crew members. Homeworld also looks the part graphically and appears rather good on a smartphone. So it doesn’t really matter if your memories of the original Homeworld from the late nineties aren’t quite so fresh anymore.
