Arbo

Arbo succeeds in giving the popular mobile subgenre of idle games (clicker games)—which has become a long-running hit—a fresh twist and a unique character of its own. It does this by skillfully combining the gameplay elements of “exploration/discovery” with the aspects of “education” and “learning”—without, however, letting the entertainment and fun factor take a back seat. This raises awareness of the complex issues surrounding nature and biodiversity, thereby addressing a highly topical issue. However, the game’s design avoids the traditional classroom setting and any preachy tone, remaining entirely within the game world.

The game world is colorful and vibrant, presented in a stylized art style described by the developer as “low-poly faceted,” drawing players into a relaxed setting complemented by natural ambient sounds (raindrops, birdsong, …). Arbo strikes a balance between a leisurely, flowing atmosphere and numerous options to tap, unlock, and upgrade, offering players sustained engagement.
