Katze Q – Ein Quanten-Adventure is a modern adventure game for mobile devices centred on quantum physics. It skilfully exploits the potential of the medium and offers a playful approach to its educational content. Its gameplay is based on puzzle elements similar to those found in a point-and-click adventure; it is intuitive and therefore easy to use, even for younger players, whilst also incorporating additional features such as the option to take in-game selfies. The interactive elements and puzzles are varied, ranging from simple collection tasks – such as collecting stickers and dressing up the cat – to more complex logic puzzles that encourage players to puzzle things out together with their parents, thereby sparking conversation. Help and hints can be displayed as needed, and the ‘Kittypedia’ feature makes it easy to expand one’s knowledge. The focus is on a playful approach to learning and shared experiences.
