How can letters be used to trigger the desired chain reaction? How does a rolling ‘o’ behave, or a ‘c’? The physics-based puzzle game Supertype is based on this principle. The deliberately minimalist design, the focus on the essentials and the superb craftsmanship create an enormous sense of immersion, particularly as there are often several different ways to reach the goal. Anyone who, after a while, thinks they’ve got the hang of Supertype will be proven wrong by a constant stream of new challenges and surprises. Literally an intelligent delight – one that only works in this form as a mobile game. As a bonus, there’s a level editor thrown in for good measure.
