RULES!

RULES! is a remarkably original and visually appealing addition to the reaction-puzzle genre – a brain teaser played under time pressure. The gameplay is simple: in each round, tiles featuring an image and a number are displayed, and players must tap them in accordance with an ever-growing set of rules before time runs out. With each round, a new rule is added, and players must be able to remember each one following an initial explanation. ‘Apply rule three’, for example, might be the instruction, and players must tap all tiles with odd numbers. Next, rule two comes into play, and all tiles with a green picture are required. The game becomes quite challenging after just a few rounds. However, as the rules always appear in the same order, it’s worth putting some thought into the game on a regular basis.

The jury praises not only the immense fun the game offers, but also its clever and unique gameplay mechanics. Originality in the latter is by no means a given on a platform where more than 10,000 games are released every month. This is further enhanced by the appealing and modern design, which can hold its own against the best apps worldwide. The jury believes that players, just like the jury members themselves, will find it very difficult to put this thoroughly successful game aside.
