Like its co-contendor Steam Power 1830, Rail Nation is also a railway management simulation. Strategic planning and economic thinking are absolutely essential here. The presentation is functional, but the game’s depth – particularly in terms of the meticulous research involved – is impressive. Planning is half the battle in Rail Nation, both when it comes to building and expanding the rail network and when drawing up timetables and transport schedules. A game that railway enthusiasts and fans of classic German economic simulations in particular will find great fun.
