Polarized!

Mobile games can offer players a unique experience when they use the technical features of a cell phone or tablet to influence and advance the gameplay. This is also the case with Polarized!, which offers an interesting take on the multiple-choice adventure genre. Players experience an interactive story in which they must help the protagonist, Clara, remember the events of a special winter night. The game utilizes the camera function and image recognition capabilities of the player’s device to match visual elements captured by the player with the objects or situations required in the story, allowing Clara to recall the story’s progression and continue the narrative. Polarized! sends players on a scavenger hunt that intentionally requires them to search every room in their own apartment or even draw missing motifs themselves. Through the players’ active participation, deep immersion in the gameplay is possible, keeping the suspense about the adventure’s outcome alive until the very end.
