Pia „Shurjoka“ Scholz

We are nominating Pia Scholz, aka Shurjoka, as Player of the Year primarily because of her high level of authenticity, transparency and the diversity of her content. As well as entertaining and engaging gameplay streams spanning every conceivable genre, she also regularly offers her community exciting and informative discussion sessions. She does not shy away from uncomfortable or sensitive topics in the slightest; instead, she addresses them openly, even prioritising them, engages in constructive discussions with her community and offers solutions and support. Whether it’s diversity, far-right extremism, mental health, sexism or the profession of an influencer – the range of topics is wide-ranging. With great empathy, she explains current issues, shines with in-depth specialist knowledge and manages to communicate in a way that is tailored to her audience. Furthermore, she sets an exemplary example by encouraging her fans to speak their minds and question things. Her content strikes a chord with the spirit of the times like few others do. As the jury, we feel it is important to emphasise that Pia is not only active on Twitch, but also uses other platforms such as Twitter and Instagram to engage with people. The fact that she donates much of her earnings to charitable organisations that are committed to similar causes is another aspect we are keen to highlight in our reasoning.

The DCP Jury 2022
