FREEZE! 2 – BROTHERS
Freeze 2 – Brothers is the sequel to Freeze, a unique and unconventional indie game from Munich that stood out for its game design and graphics. The title reached 11 million downloads and was one of the most internationally renowned German mobile games.
Freeze 2 logically expands on the intelligent puzzle gameplay of its predecessor, maintaining a pleasant balance of puzzles that can be solved through reasoning or trial and error. Whereas Freeze featured just one hero, this game features two; and while Freeze focused solely on gravity and rotating cages, this installment adds a physically accurate simulation of a liquid. The overarching story—in which two brothers, gear-like fantasy creatures, must puzzle their way through 100 levels across four worlds—isn’t original, but it’s told well.
The game is, in the best sense, a mobile game tailored to the platform: it’s a lot of fun right from the start, can be controlled with a single finger, is playable in short bursts, is easy to pick up, but never trivial. The game is challenging in some places, but offers the fair option to skip levels that are too difficult.
