Watch Dogs
Imagine the world of tomorrow. A world of constant surveillance. Cameras everywhere. The internet omnipresent. Snippets of private information available at any time. Ubisoft’s open-world action game Watch Dogs thrives on its menacing setting, built around the fascination of a networked society and the threat posed by the surveillance apparatus. Right at the heart of it all is master hacker Aiden Pearce. A broken man who scrapes by by hacking mobile phones and cash machines. Then a criminal organisation threatens him and his family – the fight for survival begins. Players become part of a fascinating depiction of the city of Chicago. The hero must remain invisible whilst tracking down the masterminds. He explores the city by car, finds friends and allies, and tries not to leave a trace in the data streams. Whether the hero escapes a threatening situation by stealth, fights his way through with armed force, or finds a solution via a hacking attack is left up to the players: the dystopian world supports an open-ended approach.
