Blue Prince

It becomes clear from the very first moments: Blue Prince is no ordinary game, but an experience that lingers long after you’ve finished playing. What initially appears to be a classic puzzle or exploration game reveals a new layer with every hour spent playing – both in terms of gameplay and storytelling. Just when you think you’ve got the hang of the gameplay, Blue Prince surprises you with further mechanics, meanings and perspectives that cast what you’ve experienced so far in a different light.

At its heart lies masterfully executed environmental storytelling: the story isn’t told, it’s discovered, pieced together and interpreted. This form of narration makes the gameplay particularly intense and often leads to you placing a notebook next to your controller to jot down thoughts, observations or even simply absurd hypotheses about the connection between new information and what you’ve played so far. This is supported by an exceptionally cohesive audiovisual design – the detailed graphics and the haunting soundtrack contribute significantly to the dense atmosphere.

All of this gives Blue Prince an enormous pull. The cleverly designed puzzles constantly encourage players to think further and explore further, both alone and together, for there is hardly any other game from last year about which players have exchanged so many theories and discussed so many solutions as they have regarding the blueprints of Blue Prince.
