Echoes of Mora

In Echoes of Mora, players literally dive into the sunken past of a mysterious village. In search of fragments of memory – the eponymous echoes – they explore a fascinating underwater world and experience flashbacks that gradually reveal the story of Mora and her missing brother Dario. Intuitive gesture interactions create an emotional connection to the protagonist, while solving puzzles unlocks new areas of the world.
The prototype impresses with its visually coherent and technically flawless implementation. The clever combination of VR and underwater movements ensures a natural and immersive gaming experience. Instead of using classic movement, players swim and glide through the environment and can manoeuvre through narrow passages by crawling – a control concept that avoids motion sickness and integrates perfectly into the narrative world.

Particularly noteworthy is the exceptionally detailed game design document, which shows that the story has already been thought through far beyond what is hinted at in the prototype. The young team’s clear vision for further developing the game is reflected in the elaborate structure and well-thought-out design of future content. With its impressive atmosphere, innovative VR controls and sophisticated story concept, Echoes of Mora is not only a technically outstanding project, but also exemplary proof of the potential of narrative VR experiences. This combination convinced us as a jury that Echoes of Mora must be nominated.
