SIGNALIS

SIGNALIS is an outstanding survival horror adventure that references genre classics in a variety of ways. The emotionally gripping story is embedded in challenging gameplay and incorporates philosophical and social themes that are cleverly intertwined with cosmic horror and science fiction. The game impresses with its intense sound atmosphere, atmospheric and creepy music and soundscapes, and a high degree of immersion. The graphics are clearly influenced by titles from the PlayStation 1 era, but find their own identity through a minimalist colour palette, modern effects and a dash of anime.

Particularly noteworthy are references to the GDR regime, German inserts and backgrounds, and the use of implicit storytelling and coherent design language. SIGNALIS is an impressive debut that stands confidently on its own two feet and has earned the developer much international praise.
