Deine Stimme

Deine Stimme is a collaborative game for the classroom designed to raise awareness of democratic processes among young people and strengthen their media literacy. The game environment is an interactive internet platform with videos about the election campaigns of four fictional parties, plus polls, social media posts, fact checks and fictional deepfakes. In the classroom, pupils can vote for their favourite party and directly experience the consequences of their voting decision, because anything can happen in the course of the game, from a strengthening of democracy to the emergence of a dictatorship.
The accompanying material allows teachers to accompany this gaming experience in greater depth and engage in dialogue with their pupils to talk about real-life politics, parties, fake news and their everyday concerns and problems, and to discuss how they deal with or can deal with them.
The game Deine Stimme is provided free of charge and with low barriers to entry by the Bayrische Landeszentrale für politische Bildung. It is therefore freely accessible and a good tool for promoting political education, especially in schools. The extensive accompanying material offers great added value for both the accompanying game leader and the players, and the mixture of analogue and digital game mechanics is designed to be low-threshold.
Deine Stimme teaches critical thinking by combining playful elements with an educational mission and raising awareness of populist and anti-democratic trends in politics. Young people are encouraged to actively engage with political content and question it. Especially in times when democratic values and institutions are coming under increasing pressure worldwide, it is crucial to promote political education at an early age and to address it in schools in a way that reflects the realities of young people’s lives. This game, which has been produced with great care and attention to detail, succeeds in doing just that.
