Vom fehlenden Fisch – Die Geheimnisvolle Welt der Gemälde

The game accompanying the exhibition at the Kunsthalle Bremen is designed to introduce children ages eight and up to the art—primarily paintings—on display in Bremen. The game combines images by painters such as Vincent van Gogh, Max Liebermann, and Otto Modersohn with simple puzzles modeled after point-and-click adventures. In a separate section, players can access additional information about the works and their creators. The game mechanics are very simple yet engaging and appropriate for the target age group. The jury is convinced that, after playing through the game, children will view the paintings—which they have now studied in detail—with fresh, more alert eyes when they see them in the actual exhibition. The medium of computer games demonstrates new, innovative approaches to museum education here.
