Heart Drive
As a prototype, Heart Drive impresses with a clear creative vision and a successful blend of gameplay mechanics and narrative. The focus is on a group of protagonists of equal standing, whilst driving and fishing interact surprisingly naturally within a dynamic chase mechanic. The island world, with its mix of magic, technology and traces of a bygone civilisation, provides an atmospheric setting for this. The 70s/80s vibe – from the Citroën 2CV to the reel-shaped fish reminiscent of magnetic tapes, right through to the deliberately minimalist, VHS-inspired UI – gives the game its own distinctive character. Even in the prototype, the controls, game loop and audiovisual design mesh seamlessly, clearly demonstrating the potential of this concept.
